Amy Rose Deal is Assistant Professor in the linguistics department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She received the PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2010. Her core research interests are in crosslinguistic variation, in understudied languages and linguistic fieldwork, and in connections between semantics, syntax and morphology. Most of her recent projects address questions of crosslinguistic variation raised by the Nez Perce language, which she has worked to analyze and document from syntactic, semantic, and morpho-phonological points of view. In morpho-phonology, she has recently worked on allomorphy and reduplication. In syntax, she has recently worked on possession and possessor raising, (split) ergativity, verb agreement, complementizer agreement, and relative clauses. In semantics, she has recently worked on modal expressions, shifty indexicals, and mass-count distinctions.
