Jonathan Dunn specializes in cognitive and computational semantics and pragmatics. He earned his Ph.D. in 2013 at Purdue University working with Dr. Victor Raskin, and is now working as a researcher at the Illinois Institute of Technology. His research uses computational models to test hypotheses from theoretical linguistics. The models take unprocessed natural language text as input, allowing them to be applied to very large corpora. The goal is to develop and apply new computational methodologies to long-standing linguistic problems, while being aware of related developments in the other cognitive sciences. His research interests include computational corpus linguistics, cognitive linguistics, computational modeling of language, and figurative language.
