Adele Goldberg is a professor of psychology at Princeton University. Her research focus is on the way linguistic forms are related to their functions, and the way these pairings of form and function are learned, processed, generalized and constrained. This work drawn parallels between words, idioms, and more abstract phrasal constructions. She has previously been a faculty member at the University of Illinois and at UC San Diego and has taught at the LSA Institutes at UIUC, UCSB, Stanford, Berkeley, and MIT/Harvard. She is author of Constructions: a Construction Grammar approach to argument structure (1995) and Constructions at Work: the nature of generalization in language (2006), and is currently working on a book, Explain me this, with Ben Ambridge.
