William S. Horton [Sid] (B.S., Duke University, 1991; Ph.D., University of Chicago, 1999) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Northwestern University, where he has been since 2005.  He also taught at the 2011 and 2013 LSA Linguistic Institutes.  His primary research interests focus on issues related to perspective-taking and cognitive models of common ground, particularly the role played by memory in conversation.  He is also interested in non-literal language, narrative comprehension and discourse processing in older adults.  He is also a member of the Governing Board of the Society for Text and Discourse.
