Keren Rice

Keren Rice is University Professor and Canada Research Chair in Linguistics and Aboriginal Studies at the University of Toronto. She is recognized for her research on Athabaskan languages and in the areas of phonology and morphology. Her grammar of the northern Athabaskan language Slavey received the Bloomfield Book Award from the LSA in 1992, and she is the author of a book on morpheme order in the verb word of Athabaskan languages. She has contributed to the understanding of markedness in phonology, and is a co-editor of the five-volume the Blackwell Companion to Phonology. She served as editor of the International Journal of American Linguistics from 2002 until 2013.
